The White Coat Ceremony for the 2025-2026 Academic Year at Kastamonu University Faculty of Medicine was held on September 29, 2025, in the Central Library Sezai Karakoç Hall with high participation.

A total of 89 students, including two foreign nationals, who began their education in the 2024-2025 academic year, took their first steps into the medical profession by donning white coats at a ceremony. The program was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Avcı, academic and administrative staff, students, and families.

 The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the reading of the Turkish National Anthem. Following the medical school promotional video, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Ahmet Avcı delivered the opening speech, stating that he had recently assumed his new position and adding: “With nearly 80 academic staff members in our faculty, we aim to provide our students with the best education possible. Medicine is a profession that requires lifelong reading and research. It is also very important for our families to provide all kinds of support to our students during this process. "

Following his speech, Prof. Avcı presented gifts to Bayram Burak Karakay, who was admitted to the Faculty of Medicine with the highest honors, and Nisa Duru Bora, who completed the first year with the highest honors.

 After the award ceremony, Bayram Burak Karakay took the floor and made the following remarks, drawing attention to the meaning of the white coat: This coat, which has brought us together here today, is not just a symbol; it is a great responsibility and a promise to serve society.

This apron will remind us of the importance of compassion as well as knowledge, and of conscience alongside science. Today, we not only carry our own dreams on our shoulders, but also the efforts of our families who brought us to this point and the wisdom of our teachers. "

Then, Nisa Duru Bora, who took the stage, shared the pride of taking her first step into medicine, using the following words: Today, on this path we've embarked on for our dreams, we're taking our first steps in medicine and putting on our white coats that will be our companions on this journey. We are at the moment when we will be proud to put on our aprons, thinking of the people we will be helping. Seeing the sparkle in people's eyes, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this precious moment in the journey we began to add value to our homeland. "

Following the speeches, the students put on their white coats, which were presented by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Avcı, Vice Dean Assist.Prof.Dr. Murat Ali Çiçekler, and faculty members from the Faculty of Medicine.

The ceremony continued with the students, accompanied by Assistant Professor Dr. Nurtaç Sarıkaş, reciting the White Coat Oath together.

At the ceremony, which was filled with emotional moments, students and their families shared the pride and excitement of taking their first steps into the profession.
