Hilal Metin, a PhD student in the Aquaculture doctoral program at Kastamonu University Graduate School of Education, has been awarded grant support under the TÜBİTAK 1002-A Rapid Support Module for her project titled “Development of 3D Culture Models for the Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) Liver Cell Line SOB-15 and Comparative Evaluation with a 2D Culture System,” prepared under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Osman Sabri Kesbiç.

The research project aims to develop three-dimensional (3D) cell culture models for the rainbow trout liver cell line SOB-15.

The study will comparatively analyze the 3D models to be developed with conventional two-dimensional (2D) culture systems, with the aim of establishing conditions that more closely resemble the cells’ natural environment and evaluating the contribution of the findings to cellular studies.

The project will also examine the potential applications of 3D cell culture systems in the field of aquaculture biotechnology. The data obtained from the research are expected to contribute to the scientific knowledge base regarding the use of the rainbow trout liver cell line in different culture systems.
