The project titled "An Examination of Science Teachers' Classroom Practices Participating in a Formative Assessment-Focused Professional Development Program," prepared within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 1002 – Fast Support Program under the leadership of Research Assistant Seda Çalık from the Department of Science Education, Faculty of Education, Kastamonu University, has been awarded support.
The 12-month project is being advised by Prof. Dr. Murat Pektaş, a faculty member from the Department of Science Education at the Faculty of Education, and Prof. Dr. Salih Ateş, a faculty member from the Department of Science Education at Gazi University.
The project aims to develop a unique professional development program to enable science teachers to use formative assessment more effectively in their classrooms.
The aim is to digitize the applications and materials prepared within the scope of the program and make them accessible to all teachers. Thus, a comprehensive digital material pool will be prepared to contribute to strengthening teachers' in-class assessment practices, along with a user guide for all science teachers across Turkey.
In his statement evaluating the project, our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal used the following expressions:
“We are very pleased that our university's academic contributions to teacher education are increasing day by day. This project will contribute to both improving our science teachers' classroom practices and spreading a culture of formative assessment in our country. I congratulate the project team and wish their work will provide valuable outputs for the scientific world and the field of education.”
Our Rector also expressed gratitude to YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar and YÖK members for their support of quality research in higher education, and to TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın for their encouragement of university projects.”
