The closing program of the "Strong Father, Strong Special Individual" project, presented by the Black Sea Autism Federation and supported by the General Directorate of Civil Society Relations of the Ministry of Interior, and carried out by Kastamonu University, was held in the Sezai Karakoç Hall of the Kastamonu University Central Library.
The program was attended by Deputy Governor Hakan Kubalı, Provincial Director of Civil Society Relations Yavuz Şimşek, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Kastamonu University Prof. Dr. Abdulkadir Tuna, academics, representatives of civil society organizations, individuals with special needs, and their families.
Speaking at the program, Ahmet Şirin, District Director of National Education for Taşköprü, highlighted the role of civil society organizations in promoting social cohesion and emphasized the importance of volunteering in this area. He stated that the project is an important awareness study aimed at encouraging fathers' more active participation in the process.
Following Şirin, Mustafa Kemal Bozkurt, one of the participants in the "Strong Father, Strong Special Individual" project, took the floor and stated that the experiences gained during the project process positively contributed to family communication and the bond they established with their children.
Following the presentations, a slideshow of workshops conducted during the project process was presented to the participants.
Later in the program, Clinical Psychologist Gökhan Sönmez gave a speech and presentation. Sönmez addressed the emotional processes experienced by families of individuals with special needs, particularly fathers, and provided assessments on coping skills, communication, and family balance.
Following this, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Havva Kaçan, the Project Coordinator and faculty member at the Faculty of Health Sciences, gave a comprehensive presentation about the project, stating that the study was shaped by requests from mothers in the Strong Mother – Strong Individual project. Emphasizing the importance of greater father involvement in children's development and family harmony, Kaçan stated that workshops based on education, art, culture, and sports were organized within the scope of the project. He stated that the majority of the workshops were held on weekends to facilitate the participation of fathers.
Following Assoc. Prof. Kaçan's speech, a performance of the Aydın Region Efe Dance, was presented by individuals with special needs. While the show received great acclaim from the audience, the program continued with a performance by the father's rhythm group.
Then, Yavuz Şimşek, the Provincial Director of Civil Society Relations, took the stage and emphasized the importance of public and civil society cooperation, stating that the project's impact in the field was extremely valuable. Following the speech, Deputy Governor Hakan Kubalı thanked all stakeholders who had contributed to the project and stated that similar efforts would continue to receive support.
During the program, certificates of appreciation were presented to the trainers and academics who participated in the workshop activities throughout the project. During the program, the painting created specifically for the project by Danyar Hergasov, a 4th-year student from the Faculty of Health Sciences, was presented as a gift to Huriye Boyraz, President of the Association for Special Individuals and Solidarity. Additionally, an exhibition featuring the works prepared as part of the project was opened to visitors.
The closing program concluded with a commemorative photo session.
