The study titled "Smart Manufacturing Module," developed by Assist.Prof. Dr. Erman Zurnacı, a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kastamonu University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Engin Nas from Düzce University and Assist. Prof. Dr. Sabri Uzuner from Yalova University have been registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.
This invention, which is among TÜBİTAK's Priority R&D and Innovation Topics, combines artificial intelligence-supported technologies with CNC production techniques. The module, which collects data from the CNC machine and its own sensors during production, analyzes it in real time to optimize the manufacturing process. The system is intended to reduce energy consumption, improve production quality, and detect device malfunctions in advance.
The Smart Manufacturing Module, thanks to its modular design, can be easily integrated into existing CNC devices, enabling the domestic manufacturing industry to participate in digital transformation without incurring high investment costs. Operators can monitor all analysis results related to the production process from their own screens or remotely.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, congratulated the working group on the patent registration and made the following statement:
“Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, stated that the project developed in collaboration with different universities is a qualified result of inter-university partnership. Our Rector, emphasizing the importance of the module that combines artificial intelligence and CNC technologies in providing low-cost, practical solutions for the digital transformation of domestic industry, congratulated the academics involved, noting that converting academic knowledge into a patented product enhances our country's R&D potential and competitiveness."
Our Rector also expressed his gratitude to the President of the Higher Education Council, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, Prof. Dr. M. Zeki Durak, for their support of R&D activities and university-industry collaboration processes.
