The Orienteering Türkiye Championship, organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation and hosted by Kastamonu University, was completed on May 6-7, 2026. The organization, which lasted two days, was the stage for the competition among athletes from different universities in Türkiye.
The championship award ceremony was attended by Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük and Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı, Kastamonu Youth and Sports Provincial Director Sami Kuşçu, and Acting Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Demirbaş, Health, Culture and Sports Department Head Mehmet Sena Aygül, and Personnel Department Head Tayfun Tiryaki, as well as academics and students. The program, which started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, included a dance performance by the Raksan Folk Dance Group.
In the Sprint Women's Individual category held on the first day of the competitions, Betül Önal from Anadolu University won the gold medal, Buket Aydın from the same university came in second, and Beyzanur Kaplan from Hacettepe University took third place. The successful athletes were awarded by our Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük.
In the Men's Sprint category, Ankara University achieved success by taking all three podium spots. In the category in which İsmail Kılınç won the gold medal, Şahin Demir won the silver medal, and Aziz Kızıltaş won the bronze medal. The athletes who placed in the rankings received their medals from the Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı.
In the Middle Distance competitions held on the second day of the championship, Eylul Şenal from Anadolu University won first place in the Women's Individual category, while Betül Önal from Anadolu University came in second, and Beyzanur Kaplan from Hacettepe University secured third place. The athletes' medals were presented by Sami Kuşçu, the Director of Youth and Sports in Kastamonu. In the Men's Individual category, the athletes from Ankara University took their places on the podium. In the competition, which İsmail Kılınç finished in first place, Ali Aydın came in second, and Şahin Demir came in third. The awards were presented by Prof. Dr. Ayşe Ferah Özbal, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences. In the men’s general classification, İsmail Kılınç, Şahin Demir, and Ali Aydın from Ankara University shared the first three places. The athletes were presented their awards by the Director of the Health, Culture and Sports Department, Mehmet Sena Aygül.
In the Inter-University Team Ranking, Anadolu University won the gold medal in the Women's category, Hacettepe University the silver, and Istanbul Technical University the bronze. The awards were presented to the teams by the Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük.
In the Men's Team category, Ankara University won the championship, followed by Anadolu University in second and the National Defense University in third. The organization concluded with a group photo session held by the protocol members and athletes in commemoration of the day.
