Students from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Kastamonu University have achieved another prestigious success in the fields of defense and technology. The project titled "Artificial Intelligence-Supported Biosensor-Based Monitoring System for Operator Situation Awareness," prepared by Computer Engineering Department student Kerem Mert and Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department student Osman Furkan Özipek under the supervision of Associate Professor Kemal Akyol, has been accepted into the 2025-2026 Academic Year HAVELSAN SUIT Program.
The HAVELSAN SUIT Program, which supports innovative ideas in the fields of defense, aviation, and information technologies, is among the important technology development platforms that offer young researchers the opportunity to closely familiarize themselves with and experience professional R&D processes. As part of the program, our students will receive one-on-one technical mentorship from HAVELSAN engineers for their projects and will have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions for defense technologies.
In his assessment of the students' success in the program, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, used the following expressions:
We are pleased that our university students have been accepted into distinguished research and development programs at the national level. The support of a strategic institution like HAVELSAN for the projects developed by our youth in critical areas, such as artificial intelligence and sensor technologies, is both an indicator of our high-quality education and a valuable contribution to our country's technology vision. Congratulations to our students and their advisors, and I wish you all the best in the program process.
Our Rector also stated that the supported projects aim to generate benefits for society as a whole, and thanked the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of HAVELSAN, Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar, for their support of R&D studies.
