Kastamonu University welcomed its newly enrolled students for the 2025-2026 academic year with an "Orientation Program." The program, organized under the coordination of the Career Development Application and Research Center, was held on September 22, 2025, in the Central Library Sezai Karakoç Hall.As part of the program, introduction booths were also set up for student clubs and some administrative units, contributing to the new students' adaptation process to our university.
The program continued with a moment of silence and the playing of the Turkish National Anthem, followed by the screening of promotional films about Kastamonu and our university.
The program's opening speech was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Adem Yılmaz, Director of the Career Development Application and Research Center. Associate Professor Yılmaz provided information about the purpose and scope of the program and advised students to evaluate the academic, artistic, and sporting opportunities available at our university. He concluded his remarks with wishes for a happy and successful educational journey for the students.
Following Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yılmaz, Lecturer Dr. Zuhal Arife Küçük took the stage to introduce the activities of Kastamonu Technopark. Dr. Küçük shared examples of projects completed by students in previous years and emphasized that their doors are always open to all students who wish to become entrepreneurs. He also emphasized the importance of using time wisely and wished the students a peaceful academic year.
Following Dr. Küçük, Lecturer Serap Balcı spoke on behalf of the Specialization Coordination for Forestry and Nature Tourism, highlighting the purpose and importance of specialized universities in her speech. Lecturer Balcı discussed the ongoing efforts to improve the quality of education in the private and public sectors and shared examples of best practices in action. Additionally, Balcı provided a brief overview of the 48 projects being carried out within the scope of specialization.
The program continued with a presentation by Emre Çobanoğlu, a staff member of the Press and Public Relations Office, who spoke after Balcı. Çobanoğlu provided students with information about the unit's structure, ongoing work, and the personnel working in it. Çobanoğlu also gave a brief introduction to our university's social media accounts.
Following Çobanoğlu, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mücahit Muslu, the Social Office Unit Manager, took the stage and emphasized the importance of social studies in addition to academic knowledge. Speaking about the opportunities provided by the Social Office, Assist. Prof. Dr. Muslu stated that students' ideas could be transformed into social projects. He invited students to be active in social projects, stating that a social transcript is as valuable as academic achievement.
Following Assist Prof. Dr. Muslu, Assoc Prof. Dr. Ömer Erdoğan, a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, gave a presentation titled "Addiction and Combating Addiction." Assoc. Prof. Erdoğan drew attention to dangers such as digital addiction and virtual gambling, emphasizing that help should not be hesitated when encountering these problems.
Following Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemal Akyol took the stage and, after conveying his best wishes to the students, provided information about the Teknofest competitions. Stating that they started with the students' ideas and that the university provided great support in this process, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Akyol said that the experiences gained in national and international competitions made significant contributions to the students' post-graduation lives.
Unit Head Fırat Çoşkun from the Department of Health, Culture, and Sports delivered the presentation after Assoc. Prof. Dr. Akyol. Starting his speech by mentioning that the university has been awarded the title of "Sports-Friendly Campus," Unit Head Çoşkun spoke about the wide range of opportunities the university offers students in the fields of sports, health, and culture.
Following Unit Head Coşkun, Onur Altıntaş, a member of the Information Technology Department staff, took the floor to introduce the university's information technology infrastructure and share information on how students can utilize these resources.
The last speech of the program was given to Police Officer Hasan Şahin, who works in the Crime Research and Investigation Unit of the Kastamonu Police Department's Cyber Crimes Division. Şahin provided students with information about cybercrimes, illegal gambling, bank fraud, fake internet pages, and different fraud methods.
On the first day of the orientation program, students from the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, and School of Civil Aviation participated in the morning session, while students from the Faculty of Tourism, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Faculty of Communication, and Faculty of Sports Sciences attended the afternoon session.
On the second day of the program, students from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, the Faculty of Theology, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will attend the morning session; students from Kastamonu Vocational School will meet with academic and administrative staff in the afternoon session.
