Students from the Faculty of Theology at Kastamonu University organized a meaningful event on October 3, 2025, to draw attention to the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza and to show solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The march, which began in front of our university's Central Library, continued to the Faculty of Theology with a large turnout. Aiming to be the voice of the Palestinian people with the banners they carried and the slogans they chanted, the students reacted to the events with expressions like "Down with Israel" and "Gaza is not alone."
Students reading the press release as part of the event strongly condemned Israel's blockade of Gaza and the attack on the Sumud Fleet, which was carrying humanitarian aid in international waters. The statement included the following expressions:
"Today, we are not just reading a statement here; we are making a promise to our history, our faith, and humanity. What is happening in Gaza is a disgrace to humanity. Israel's attack on the Sumud Humanitarian Aid Flotilla is a clear violation of law and human dignity."
In the continuation of the statement, the international community was urged to take urgent action. Students demanded the establishment of a safe humanitarian corridor for Gaza, the immediate release of civilians detained in the Sumud Fleet, and concrete steps against Israel's attacks.
Additionally, our university students declared that they will carry out the boycott, awareness campaigns, and peaceful protest actions with determination.
The program was supported by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, and Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan, who also attended to show their support to the students.
The event concluded with the message "We are here; we will not be silent," followed by a prayer.
