Kastamonu University Culture, Art Application and Research Center, in collaboration with the university's Culture and Art Application Community, has launched the culture and art magazine "ANKA." The magazine, prepared as a local periodical, stands out for its student-centered structure.
Associate Professor Dr. Zeki Gürel, the owner and editor-in-chief of the magazine, stated in his article titled "For New Partnerships," which he wrote for the first issue, that the purpose of ANKA's publication is to make Kastamonu's cultural heritage visible and to establish a permanent cultural and artistic bridge between the university and the city. It is aimed that the ANKA, which symbolizes "rebirth from its ashes" in mythology, will open the door to a new unity in the cultural and literary life of Kastamonu.
Culture and Art Events Together at ANKA
The first issue of ANKA extensively covered significant cultural and artistic events held in Kastamonu in 2025.
The journal included speeches, evaluations, and texts related to events such as the "Kastamonu Poets and Writers Symposium-I," the opening of the "Kastamonu University Living Museum and City Archive," the "Ilgaz Poetry Evenings-I," and the "Colors of Time Poetry Competition-I."
The magazine features speeches by Kastamonu Governor Meftun Dallı, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Kerem Seven, and Associate Professor Dr. Zeki Gürel, as well as interviews, poems, stories, fairy tales, travelogues, and art studies. University students, high school students, teachers, and academics are meeting on the same pages.
A Publication Entirely Focused on Kastamonu
The cover image of ANKA, prepared without advertisements, features the Kastamonu painting by artist Ramiz Netovkin, while the magazine's content highlights articles focusing on Kastamonu's historical, cultural, and literary heritage. The final article in the first issue was a text titled "The Pen" by İbrahim Alaettin Gövsa, a writer from the Republican era.
The ANKA Culture and Art Magazine, planned to be published twice a year (Spring and Autumn), aims to meet readers as a local periodical with educational and social responsibility goals, based on the principles of learning by doing and experiencing.
