Kastamonu University's Head of the Department of International Relations, Assist.Prof.Dr. Murat Yılmaz implemented a social responsibility project to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
With the project implemented in collaboration with Kastamonu University International Relations Student Community and Kastamonu Governorate Open Door Branch Directorate, Palestinian students studying at the university aim to raise awareness on peace, human rights, and empathy through events organized in middle schools in Kastamonu. Additionally, the project aims to raise awareness among secondary school students in Kastamonu about the humanitarian situation in Palestine.
As part of the events, Palestinian students are sharing the humanitarian drama in Palestine with young people, drawing on their own life experiences. At these events, where university students and middle school students come together, children are encouraged to reflect on peace, human rights, and humanitarian values.
The first event organized within the scope of the project was held on October 7th at Kastamonu Central Middle School.
While emotional moments were experienced at the event, various workshops were also held to strengthen the students' feelings of empathy and solidarity.
"Our goal is to raise awareness among young people."
Project leader Assist.Prof. Dr. Murat Yılmaz explained the aim of the "Bridge of Hearts" project with the following words: "With this project, we aim to raise awareness of the Palestinian issue among middle school students and strengthen the sense of social solidarity among Palestinian students at our university." Developing the conscience of young people is an important step toward a more peaceful world in the future. "
Assist. Prof.Dr. Murat Yılmaz stated that the program will continue to be implemented in different schools in the coming weeks, thus contributing to strengthening social awareness.
