Kastamonu University has added another achievement to its scientific research and education efforts. The project titled "Development of Mathematics Teachers' Teaching Design and Implementation Skills with Innovative and Technology-Supported Approaches," led by our university's Faculty of Education, Department of Mathematics Education, faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Feyza Aliustaoğlu has been deemed eligible for support under the TÜBİTAK 4005 – Innovative Education Applications Support Program.
The project aims to develop and implement innovative, technology-supported teaching design skills for middle school mathematics teachers in line with Türkiye’s Century Education Model.
Within the scope of the project, teachers will be introduced to contemporary teaching approaches such as out-of-school learning, argumentation, digital games, and storytelling, as well as the use of GeoGebra, virtual manipulatives, Web 2.0 tools, online data analysis platforms, and AI-supported applications. In this way, it is aimed to diversify teachers' classroom practices and to ensure more active student participation in the mathematics learning process.
As part of the project, a team of academics from different universities will also be involved. In addition to the project's experts, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kepceoğlu from our University, Prof. Dr. Burçin Gökkurt Özdemir from Bartın University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emre Ev Çimen from Eskişehir Osmangazi University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Güner from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa.
The teaching staff includes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esen Ersoy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emine Nur Ünveren Bilgiç, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neslihan Usta, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rezan Yılmaz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Katrancı, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Semirhan Gökçe, Assist.Prof.Dr. Oğuz Köklü, Assist.Prof.Dr. Osman Bağdat, Dr. Perihan Ayanoğlu and Dr. Ramazan Uysal.
Between June 15-19, 2026, within the scope of the project to be hosted by our University, 4 experts, 10 trainers, 5 guides, and 1 health personnel will be involved. Among the applications made from across Türkiye, 24 middle school mathematics teachers will be selected to participate in the program.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, in his evaluation of the project, noted our University's work in education and stated that such projects contribute to teachers' professional development.
