The invention titled "Production of Functionally Graded Materials with Different Interface Transitions Using Powder Metallurgy Technique with Vertical Separator Molding Technique" was invented by Assist. Prof. Dr. İsmail Kayabaşı, a vocational school member of the Department of Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies at Kastamonu University, Küre Vocational School of Higher Education, has been patented by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.
The invention, which has been granted a patent, offers a method for producing functionally graded materials that can maintain their properties under heavy working conditions and be used for a long time, in a more controlled manner and with different geometries.
With the developed method, it is aimed to create smoother interfacial transitions, to control layer thicknesses more easily, and to design transition surfaces in two dimensions as desired. Additionally, by increasing the surface area of different geometric transition surfaces, it is aimed to prevent delamination, which is defined as the separation of layers from each other. The invention stands out by enabling the transitions between different parts of the material to be created in a more controlled manner.
