The project titled "Two People, One Career: Ottoman/Turkish Diplomat Wives (1851-1938)," prepared under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Evren Küçük, a faculty member of the Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Kastamonu University, has been granted support under TÜBİTAK's 3005 - Social and Human Sciences Innovative Solutions Research Projects Support Program.
The project, led by Prof. Dr. Evren Küçük, includes Prof. Dr. Musa Kılıç from Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahime Süleymanoğlu-Kürüm from Bahçeşehir University, Dr. Lecturer Kadriye Topal Doğan from Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, and Dr. Lecturer Murat Yılmaz from Kastamonu University as researchers. Additionally, the project plans to involve a postdoctoral researcher and two graduate fellows.
The aim of the project is to focus on Ottoman diplomat wives as the primary subjects and units of analysis, shedding light on their roles in diplomatic history. In this context, the project seeks to contribute to a more balanced and egalitarian generation of knowledge. The study will address questions such as "What is the importance of diplomat wives in Ottoman/Turkish diplomacy?" and "How did their roles and visibility transform during the transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Turkish Republic?"
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, congratulated Prof. Dr. Evren Küçük, the project leader, and the researchers involved. Expressing gratitude to the President of the Higher Education Council, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the members of YÖK for their support of high-quality academic work, our Rector also thanked Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın, the President of TÜBİTAK, for his efforts in promoting institutional research initiatives.
