Students from Kastamonu University's Faculty of Sports Sciences and Vocational School placed second in the Interuniversity Wushu Türkiye Championship. The athletes finished the championship with 2 gold and 2 bronze medals.
The Intercollegiate Wushu Türkiye Championship, organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF) in Sakarya, was held at the Sakarya Serdivan Sports Hall with high participation. In the organization, 216 athletes from 56 universities competed in the "Sanda" and "Taolu" categories.
Hüseyin Eren Küçükoğlu and Sedat Altun, students from the Faculty of Sports Sciences and the Vocational School representing our university at the championship, won gold medals in the Sanda Men's Heavyweight Category, while Asrın Fırat Yaman and Doğukan Doğan took home bronze. With these results, our university won the second-place trophy in the Sanda discipline.
The students were coached by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bayram Ceylan and Res. Assist. Hasan Basri Taşkın from the Department of Coaching Education at the Faculty of Sports Sciences.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, congratulated the athletes and coaches on the degrees they earned in inter-university competitions. Our Rector emphasized that students' active participation in sports alongside their academic development contributes to the university culture and stated that, with our university's supportive approach to sports, our students will continue to develop in different areas.
Our rector thanked all the academic and administrative staff who contributed to the success and wished the athletes continued success.
