The Western Black Sea Development Union (BAKAB) meeting was hosted by the Mayor of Düzce and Union President Dr. Faruk Özlü at the Düzce Culinary Arts Center.
The meeting was attended by the governors and mayors of Düzce, Zonguldak, Karabük, Bartın, Kastamonu, and Bolu provinces, as well as university rectors, provincial extraordinary administrations, presidents of chambers of commerce and industry, and the TÜRSAB Western Black Sea Regional Representative Committee.
Our University was represented at the meeting by our Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı.
In his opening speech, President Dr. Faruk Özlü emphasized the need to restructure BAKAB with a tourism-oriented focus, proposing that it should be transformed into the “Western Black Sea Tourism Union” to develop regional tourism. TÜRSAB Western Black Sea Regional President Ercan Güner supported this proposal, stressing the importance of considering the Western Black Sea as a holistic destination.
During the meeting, participants exchanged views on improving regional tourism, strengthening cooperation among provinces, and determining joint promotional strategies.
