The Social Responsibility Projects Office (Social Office), operating under the auspices of Kastamonu University, continues its efforts to raise social awareness and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Since the 2023-2024 academic year, the Social Office, which has supported hundreds of projects, announced the "Addiction Prevention Project Call" in October 2025. The applications received were evaluated, and it was decided to support 20 new projects.
The supported projects aim to raise awareness among young people about addiction, increase educational activities, promote a culture of healthy living, and disseminate preventive work targeting at-risk groups. The projects aim to raise social awareness across a wide range of issues, from smoking, alcohol, and substance abuse to digital addiction. In this process, it is planned that students, academics, public institutions, non-governmental organizations, and local stakeholders will actively participate in a collaborative effort.
201 Project Approved
The Social Office also conducts various thematic project calls throughout the year to raise social awareness. During the January-October 2025 period, a total of 201 social responsibility projects were approved and implemented in various areas, including artificial intelligence, family, education, environment, health, cultural heritage, social awareness, and digital literacy. In this process, collaboration was undertaken with different academic units.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, stated that he welcomed the work of the Social Office with great satisfaction, adding:
Our university continues to address social problems with sensitivity and a solution-oriented approach. Our Social Responsibility Projects Office is a concrete example of this vision. Within the scope of the 'Combating Addiction Project Call', 20 new projects were supported, and a total of 201 social responsibility projects were implemented throughout the year, encompassing a range of areas, from artificial intelligence to environmental conservation, and from education to healthcare.
With the contributions of our academics, students, and all our partners, these projects strengthen our mission to raise social awareness. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this effort.
