Kastamonu University has been awarded a grant of 30,216 euros for a volunteer action that will be carried out under the European Union's European Solidarity Corps (ESC) program.
The project, to be carried out in collaboration with partner institutions from Greece and Italy, will make significant contributions to the university's internationalization goals. As part of the program, volunteer students will participate in projects abroad for a specified period.
With the project, it is aimed to increase understanding and tolerance toward different cultures, strengthen social cohesion, reduce discrimination, and support cultural diversity in society.
Through this project, Kastamonu University aims to equip young people with a multicultural perspective. The project aims to produce significant outputs not only in intercultural exchange but also in the field of social responsibility. The university aims to increase access to education and social life for disadvantaged groups such as women, people with disabilities, those experiencing economic hardship, and individuals subjected to social exclusion.
Kastamonu University has previously proven its determination in this regard. The university, awarded 38 accessibility flags by the Higher Education Council in 2024, aims to continue this success not only in spatial accessibility but also in social participation and equal opportunities. Thanks to the collaborations with organizations in Greece and Italy, which are the international partners of Kastamonu University in this project, the active participation of young people in volunteer programs in Europe will be encouraged. This collaboration will contribute to building a more inclusive, tolerant, and solidarity-based society at both the individual and societal levels.
