Kastamonu University ranked among the top 10 universities in Türkiye with the most projects implemented, thanks to the 319 social responsibility projects carried out by its students.
The University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report, published by the Council of Higher Education since 2019, continues to highlight the contributions universities make to society beyond their academic work. Our university continues its efforts to produce social contributions through projects carried out by its students and to enhance university-community interaction.
The 2025 University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report published by the Higher Education Council revealed that universities' social contribution work in Türkiye continues to increase.
According to the report, a total of 15,395 social responsibility projects were implemented by universities and students across Türkiye in 2024. While a significant portion of the 5,839 projects carried out by universities were conducted by state universities, the number of projects carried out by students totaled 9,556.
In this context, it stood out with social responsibility projects carried out with the active participation of our university students. According to the report, our university ranked 10th among universities in Türkiye for the most social responsibility projects carried out by students, with 319.
Our students' projects are carried out in various fields, including education, the environment, culture, health, and social support for disadvantaged groups. Through these projects, students contribute to their city and gain a sense of social responsibility.
Data from the last five years across Türkiye also shows that social responsibility efforts at universities have been increasing. In 2019, the number of social responsibility projects per university by students was 50.14, while in 2024, this number increased to 134.59.
In his evaluation on the subject, the President of the Higher Education Council, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, emphasized that university life is not solely about classes and highlighted the importance of students actively participating in social and cultural activities. Prof. Dr. Özvar stated that students involved in social responsibility projects make significant contributions to both their professional development and life experiences.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, stated that social responsibility projects hold an important place in our University's approach to society, and made the following evaluation:
Our ranking 10th in Turkey, with 319 social responsibility projects carried out by our students, is a concrete indicator of our University's commitment to social responsibility. Thanks to these efforts in education, the environment, culture, health, and social support, our students contribute to their city and develop a sense of social responsibility. We will continue to support our students' participation in such projects and to enhance the university-community interaction.
