The 5th International Aviation Management Congress (ICAM25), hosted by the Kastamonu University School of Civil Aviation, was held from October 23-25, 2025. At the congress, which brought together representatives from academia and industry, current developments, problems, and proposed solutions in the aviation field were discussed.
As part of the congress, a workshop titled "The Role of Safety Culture in the Sustainability of Aviation Safety" was held on October 23, 2025.
At the workshop, which was held with the participation of experts from Eskişehir Technical University, Malatya Turgut Özal University, State Airports Authority, Turkish Airlines, HAVAŞ Ground Services, and various non-governmental organizations, aviation safety and sustainability issues were evaluated from multiple perspectives. At the end of the workshop, plaques were presented to the participants, and a group photo was taken.
The opening ceremony of the congress was held on October 24, 2025. The Congress Term President, Prof. Dr. Engin Kanbur, delivered the opening speech. Subsequently, Taner Tonbul, President of Young Entrepreneurs in Kastamonu, and Dr. Hakan Kubalı, Deputy Governor of Kastamonu, assessed the development of aviation and its regional impacts.
The program continued with a presentation titled "Civil Aviation and Paradigm Shift" by Dr. Musa Güngören, General Manager of Okan Holding Aviation. The opening program was held with high attendance and concluded with Deputy Governor Dr. Kubalı presenting a plaque to Dr. Güngören.
In the parallel sessions that began after the lunch break, undergraduate students participating in the TÜBİTAK 2209-A program presented their projects for the first time this year. Thus, young researchers had the opportunity to gain significant experience in the academic field. The day concluded with a gala dinner where the participants gathered.
Parallel sessions continued on the third day of the congress, October 25, 2025. A total of 122 participants from 31 different universities presented 54 papers on various aviation-related themes. Additionally, 41 undergraduate students participated by presenting 14 TÜBİTAK 2209 projects.
At the closing session, the best paper awards in the undergraduate and graduate categories were presented to their recipients. Dr. Musa Güngören presented thank-you plaques to Prof. Dr. Engin Kanbur, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Yaşar, Asst. Prof. Dr. Selçuk Kayhan and Prof. Dr. Aysun Kanbur for their contributions to the congress.
The program concluded with a closing photo shoot and a city tour of Kastamonu.
