Kastamonu University hosted a meaningful event on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. "The 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day Commemoration Concert, organized under the theme "The Name of Victory is Turkey," took place on Monday, July 14, 2025, in the Cemil Meriç Hall of the Central Library. 

The concert was organized by the faculty members of the Department of Musicology at our university's Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Assist. Prof. Elçin Ergin Talaka, Lecturer Ömer Gökhan, and Res. Asst. Tunahan Alan was attended by both academic and administrative staff, as well as citizens. 

At the event, folk songs from the regions of İzmir, Erzurum, Adana/Çukurova, and Yozgat were performed. The melodies, combined with the narration of the music, brought emotional moments to the audience. The event was organized to ensure that the treacherous coup attempt on July 15, 2016, is not forgotten and to commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for this cause.In the concert, which was conveyed through the language of music, the nation's will to uphold democracy was reflected in an emotional atmosphere.

The event was organized as an important awareness activity not only to reinforce the sense of loyalty to the martyrs but also to keep the consciousness of democracy alive. At the closing of the event, Dr. Faculty Member Elçin Ergin Talaka, Head of the Musicology Department, presented certificates of appreciation to Umut Kullukçu, Edanur Toplu, and Halil İbrahim Dönmez for their contributions to the event.
