Kastamonu University has been included in the 2025 Impact Rankings announced by Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world's prestigious university ranking organizations. In the list where a total of 2,389 universities were evaluated within the scope of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), our university ranked in 11 different goals, surpassing the eight goals it was part of last year, and improved its performance in the field of sustainability.
Our university, ranked in the 1001–1500 band overall, stood out particularly in the SDG 9–Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure category, entering the 201–300 band. In the SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production category, it ranked in the 301–400 range, and in the SDG 13 – Climate Action category, it ranked in the 601–800 range. Additionally, it ranked in the 401–600 band in the categories of SDG 14 – Life Below Water, SDG 15 – Life on Land, and SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities. SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals categories were ranked in the 1001–1500 band; SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy was in the 1001+ band; and SDG 4 – Quality Education was in the 1501+ band.
In his evaluation on the topic, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, expressed his satisfaction with the international recognition of our University's work in the field of sustainability. Our Rector, stating that the work carried out in areas such as environment, energy, health, innovation, and education within the framework of the regional development mission contributed to this result, said, "The inclusion of our work within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals in the THE Impact Ranking is an indication of our efforts in this area." "I would like to thank all our academic and administrative staff who contributed, and I want to state that we will continue our sustainability efforts," he said.
