Kastamonu University Faculty of Forestry participated in a tree planting event organized under the slogan "Our witness is the soil, our signature is the sapling, our love is the green homeland" as part of the National Tree Planting Day on November 11th.
The event, held under the supervision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and organized by the General Directorate of Forestry (OGM) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, with the theme "Breathe for the Future," took place simultaneously in 81 provinces. In Kastamonu, the event was held in the Aksinir Village afforestation area on the İnebolu road.
The event was attended by Deputy Governor Ahmet Atılkan, our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük, Acting Mayor of Kastamonu Hasan Fehmi Taş, Deputy Mayor Ahmet Üstün Göksoy, Regional Forest Director Hakan Yaslıkaya, Deputy Police Chief Hasan Berberoğlu, academic and administrative staff of our University's Faculty of Forestry, and a large number of citizens.
As part of National Afforestation Day, a total of 25,000 saplings were planted across Kastamonu in 19 districts and 128 forest management offices. At the afforestation area at the 15th kilometer of the İnebolu road, 5 blue spruces, 5 western hemlocks, 5 cedars, and 3,650 fruit saplings were planted.
Officials from the Kastamonu Regional Forestry Directorate stated that the goal is to plant 250,000 saplings across the city by the end of the year.
