Kastamonu University maintained its international visibility in the 2026 Asia University Rankings, published by the prestigious higher education ranking organization, Times Higher Education (THE).
In the 2026 Asia University Rankings announced by THE, 929 universities from 36 countries and regions were evaluated. The ranking was prepared based on universities' performance in teaching and research environments, research quality, international outlook, and industry. In the THE methodology, universities were evaluated using 18 performance indicators.
Türkiye was among the notable countries in the 2026 Asia University Rankings. According to THE's rankings, 109 universities in Türkiye were ranked, with our university placing 39th.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, in his evaluation of the achieved result, stated that international rankings serve as an important reference in determining the developmental direction of universities, and he made the following remarks:
“The Asia University Rankings prepared by Times Higher Education is not just a ranking; it is a strategic assessment tool that allows institutions to see their strengths and areas for improvement. Türkiye’s ranking third among the top five countries with the most representation, having 109 universities, is a noteworthy indicator for our higher education system. Our placement in the 601–800 band in this table is a concrete reflection of the stable development we have demonstrated in recent years.
It is gratifying to see that our efforts to enhance the quality of our education and training processes, improve our research capacity, and fulfill our responsibility to contribute to society more effectively are recognized in international rankings. However, we consider the point we have reached not as an end but as a new beginning. We believe our university has the potential to achieve much higher rankings.
In this process, the efforts of our personnel who provide data for international rankings and contribute to the accurate, regular, and timely sharing of our corporate data are extremely valuable. I would like to thank all our academic and administrative staff, as well as our students, for their contributions, and I believe that with the same determination and understanding of cooperation, we will take our University further.
Additionally, our Rector expressed his thanks to YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar and YÖK members for their encouragement and support in internationalization. He stated that efforts to advance our university to a higher position at both national and international levels would continue with determination.
