Kastamonu University participated in the European Researchers' Night event, which was one of the activities of the "Imagine, Innovate, Create Impact (i3)" project supported within the framework of Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). The event, hosted by Van Yüzüncü Yıl University on September 26-27, 2025, stood out as one of the largest science communication organizations held simultaneously across Europe.
This year's theme, "Imagine, Innovate, Impact (i3)," aimed to enable researchers to share their scientific work with society and to quantify the societal impact of science.
Our university was represented at the event by the project manager, Associate Professor Dr. Gökhan Kaya, and the i3 Kastamonu Project team. Our team conducted four different workshops aimed at developing scientific process skills by directly interacting with the participants.
In the workshops, children and young people practically experienced their skills in questioning, observing, and drawing conclusions while exploring scientific phenomena related to daily life. The discovery of microscopic organisms in particular, and the experience of producing their own technological tools, captured the participants' interest.
Our university2s Lecturer Dr. Fevziye Işıl Kesbiç, also participated in the event as a speaker in the Café Scientifique session. Dr. Kesbiç shared his views with the participants on the importance of sharing scientific knowledge with society and the social responsibilities of scientists.
The European Researchers' Night event was a great success, attracting thousands of visitors. The event, which reached a wide audience from children to young people, and from teachers to families, contributed to increasing the scientific awareness of society.
