The White Coat Ceremony for the 2025-2026 academic year of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Kastamonu University was held at the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Cultural Center. At the ceremony, a total of 160 students in the 1st and 2nd grades of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine put on their white coats, taking the first step in their professional journey.
The program, which began with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, featured an opening speech by the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr. Özgür Kaynar, who stated that the white coat is not just a symbol of a student and emphasized that veterinary medicine is a long-established profession.
Prof. Dr. Kaynar said in his speech, "The white coat you are wearing here today is not just a symbol of being a student." This white coat is the trust of a long-standing profession that has been passed down to you for centuries. Veterinary doctors do not only treat diseases; sometimes they protect a farmer's labor, sometimes they heal a child's closest friend, and sometimes they become the unseen heroes of public health. "This path requires effort, patience, and dedication".
After the speeches, the academics dressed the students in white coats. Students, their families, academic staff, and guests attended the ceremony. The program ended with a commemorative photo session.
Sharing her feelings and thoughts at the ceremony, first-grade student Gülce Tutulmaz stated that becoming a veterinarian was her childhood dream, saying, "Since it was my father's profession, I wanted to be a veterinarian since I was a child." I grew up with a love of animals. "Putting on our white coats was a very meaningful moment for us".
Another student, Zeynep Naz Özlen, expressed her happiness at realizing her childhood dream, stating that veterinary medicine education is a long and labor-intensive process, and that they aim to complete their education in the best possible way to become beneficial individuals for their country.
