The Amateur Musicians Festival 2026, organized by Kastamonu University, was held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in the Sezai Karakoç Hall.
The event was organized under the coordination of Assist.Prof.Dr. Metin Buzduğu and Res. Assist. Dr. Ece Tuncer Tüfekçi is a faculty member of the Music Education Department of the Fine Arts Education Department at Kastamonu University Faculty of Education.
25 young musicians, aged 7 to 15, trained by 12 music instructors in Kastamonu, showcased their individual performances as part of the event. In the program, an orchestra consisting of 6 young musicians also took the stage.
The event, which included performances of piano, guitar, violin, baglama, flute, and drums, was closely followed by the art lovers in the hall. In the program, which was attended by approximately 200 people, while the young musicians gained stage experience, families and instructors also shared in the students' excitement.
Evaluating the event, Assist.Prof.Dr. Metin Buzduğu emphasized the importance of amateur music projects gaining visibility and said the following: "Amateur music projects often struggle to gain visibility. With this event, we aimed to create a reliable and high-quality environment where our children and young people could share their efforts on stage. Every performance on stage was not only a reflection of musical development but also of self-confidence, discipline, and a culture of sharing."
One of the event's co-organizers, Res. Assist. Dr. Ece Tuncer Tüfekçi stated that such organizations contribute to both individual development and the city's art culture and expressed the following: "These types of organizations contribute not only to individual development but also to the strengthening of the city's art culture. It was very valuable for us to see young musicians come together on the same stage, inspire each other, and experience music together."
At the end of the program, families, music instructors, and art enthusiasts expressed their satisfaction with the level of interest in the event. Participants shared their hopes for the continuation of the Amateur Musicians Festival with broader participation in the coming years and for it to become a tradition.
