The "National Mixed Exhibition of Faculty Members," organized by the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (GSTF) at Kastamonu University to commemorate the anniversary of the March 18 Çanakkale Victory, has opened to the public.
The exhibition, which opened its doors at our university's Fine Arts Gallery, brings the spirit of Çanakkale to the audience through art. The exhibition, featuring the contributions of 19 academics, includes 20 works.
Assist.Prof.Dr. Mustafa Kartal from our university's GSTF Department of Conservation and Restoration of Artworks, who is curating the exhibition, provided information on the artworks' preparation process and stated that a spiritual approach was prominent in the works.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Kartal stated that works using soil from Çanakkale particularly drew attention at the exhibition, saying, "From ceramics to leather, from iron processing to ceramics, we aimed to keep the spirit of Çanakkale alive with our works from different disciplines such as graphic and print arts."
Speaking at the opening, the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Prof. Erol Yıldır, emphasized Kastamonu's identity as a "land of martyrs" and stated that such events are held annually. Prof. Yıldır stated, "This exhibition is part of our effort to convey the 'impassable' spirit of Çanakkale to both our students and all the viewers through art."
The exhibition, featuring different techniques and approaches, can be visited at our University Fine Arts Gallery until March 26, 2026.
