A music recital titled "Heroic Songs" was held by the Department of Musicology at our university's Faculty of Fine Arts and Design to commemorate the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
The program held on July 14, 2026, in the Faculty of Theology Conference Hall, began with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem. Our Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan, the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Prof. Dr. Erol Yıldır, our academic and administrative staff, and citizens attended the concert.
As part of the program, heroic folk songs reflecting the Turkish nation's struggle for independence, love for the homeland, and spirit of national unity were performed. Through the works performed, the sacrifices, courage, and struggle for independence our nation has demonstrated throughout history were conveyed to the audience in the universal language of art.
While the concert was conducted by Lecturer Ömer Gökhan, Edanur Toplu performed as the soloist. In the program, Can Kavalcı played the guitar, Hızır Parlak played the baglama, and Samet Demir played the rhythm.
In the event organized within the scope of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, the struggle of the Turkish nation for its homeland and independence was commemorated through the works performed, with the aim of conveying the spirit of national unity and solidarity to future generations.
The program concluded with a thank-you to the artists and a commemorative photo in memory of the day.
