With nearly 500,000 resources, spacious and modern study areas, and award-winning accessibility practices, Kastamonu University Central Library is a hub where students and researchers can easily access information. As the new academic year begins, the library is ready to welcome its students again.
Spacious Facilities and Study Opportunities
Covering a total area of 12,000 square meters, our library is designed to meet diverse study needs. It includes three reading halls, 15 individual study rooms, 3 group study rooms, and two student conference halls. In addition, unlimited internet access provides a productive study environment.
Rich Resource Collection
The library offers a wide range of resources for students and researchers. Its collection includes 82,458 printed books, 404,642 electronic resources, 887 periodicals, and 2,759 theses. The collection is continuously enriched through both purchases and donations.
High Visitor Numbers
Last year, our library hosted 411,000 visitors. Especially during midterm and final exam periods, the daily number of visitors reaches up to 4,000, reflecting the library's active use by students.
Accessibility Award
Kastamonu University Central Library received the "Orange Flag Award" in the category of Accessibility in Space within the framework of the "Barrier-Free University Awards 2023" organized by the Council of Higher Education. This award is a recognition of the library's exemplary practices in accessibility.
A Venue for Events
Beyond serving as a study space for individuals and groups, the Central Library is also a center for academic and cultural events. It houses two conference halls and one meeting room for conferences, workshops, and meetings. The Cemil Meriç Hall, with 176 seats on the ground floor, and the Sezai Karakoç Hall, with 506 seats on the first floor, host various academic and cultural activities.
An Open Information Center for Everyone
In addition to university students, high school students, researchers, and those preparing for the Medical Specialization Exam (TUS) can also benefit from the library. While literary works are among the most popular resources, user preferences vary depending on the academic period.
Extended Service Hours
The library operates seven days a week from 08:30 to 23:00 during the academic term to support students' academic success. During midterm and final exam periods, service hours are extended until 00:00.
