Kastamonu University won a silver and a bronze medal at the TÜRKPATENT ISIF'26 – 11th International Invention Fair, which was held in Şanlıurfa as part of TEKNOFEST from September 30 to October 4, 2026.
At the fair held in Şanlıurfa as part of TEKNOFEST, researchers, inventors, technology development zones, and industry representatives came together alongside universities. At the fair, exhibitors showcased inventions and technological works developed in different fields.
The invention titled "An Embedded System Design to Detect Hearing-Impaired Individuals in Traffic," developed by Prof. Dr. Kemal Akyol, Abdulkadir Karacı, and Muhammed Emin Tiftikçi, was awarded a silver medal at the fair on behalf of our university. The jury awarded the work for its technology-based solution that made hearing-impaired individuals more noticeable in traffic.
The study titled "Ethanol-Based Herbal Content Hand Sanitizer" was developed by Assist. Prof. Dr. Kerim Güney, who showcased at the fair, won a bronze medal. In the study, a solution was developed for the evaluation of plant-based ingredients in the production of hand disinfectants.
Our university showcased its research and technology efforts on an international platform by winning medals with two different inventions at ISIF'26.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, stated that the results obtained are valuable in terms of the research and technology studies conducted at our University.
Our Rector emphasized that universities should not only produce scientific knowledge but also transform this knowledge into solutions for societal needs, stating that the University prioritizes supporting researchers' original works and developing intellectual and industrial property processes.
Stating that the two medals obtained at ISIF'26 are the result of the researchers' work in different fields, our Rector congratulated the researchers who represent our University on national and international platforms and those who contributed.
Our Rector thanked the President of the Higher Education Council, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, Prof. Dr. M. Zeki Durak, for their support of the R&D, design, and intellectual property work carried out at our University.
