The Turkish Summer School Program, traditionally organized every year by the Yunus Emre Institute, brought together students from all over the world in Türkiye this year as well. On July 7, 2025, the program, which started simultaneously in 23 cities, was hosted by Kastamonu University.
Within the framework of the program conducted under the coordination of the Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMER) at Kastamonu University, students from 14 different countries, including Albania, France, Georgia, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Palestine, Iran, Japan, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, North Macedonia, and Jordan, received 60 hours of B1-level Turkish language education.
On July 25, 2025, the Communication Faculty Conference Hall hosted the program's closing ceremony. The ceremony was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı, Head of the Health, Culture and Sports Department M. Sena Aygül, Director of TÖMER Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erol Topal, Deputy Director Dr. Faculty Member Ferda Merve Karamanoğlu, and Lecturer N. Demet Demirel.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı stated that the collaboration with the Yunus Emre Institute has contributed to the international promotion of the Turkish language and the development of intercultural interaction. Emphasizing that Turkish is not just a language but also a carrier of a deep-rooted civilization, Kaymakcı stated that such programs create cultural sharing environments and align with our University's internationalization goals. In the closing remarks, the students expressed their satisfaction with being at Kastamonu University and stated that learning the Turkish language and culture on-site was an extremely valuable experience for them.
In addition to Turkish language education, students had the opportunity to get to know the historical and natural beauties of Kastamonu through cultural trips and social activities organized during the program. Thus, the university contributed to the growth of the Turkish language while also introducing the city's cultural heritage to international youth.
