The Student Sports Games, organized as part of the Erasmus+ Sports Fest events at Kastamonu University, provided young athletes with an opportunity to showcase their talents. In the competitions, which lasted approximately three months and were full of excitement, 78 teams and 965 students competed in eight branches. A ceremony presented the trophies and medals.
During the 2024-2025 academic year, 133 student athletes, who competed in 14 branches with men's and women's teams, successfully represented our University by achieving important degrees in four teams and six individual branches in the activities of the University Sports Federation.
Students who placed in tournaments across Turkey also received medals at the event. The Women's Rugby Team, which became the Turkish Champion, received their award from our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal. The Regional League Champion Women's Futsal Team received their awards from Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan, while the second-place award for the Regional League Women's Volleyball Team was presented by Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük. The Men's Volleyball Team also received their medals from Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı for their success in becoming the runners-up in the Regional League. Asrın Fırat Yaman, Mehdi Salmanov, Aydın Demir, Sedat Altun, Hamza Eren Göksu, and Yusuf Altun, who ranked in the Kick Boxing, Muay Thai, and Wushu branches, received their awards from Assist. Prof.Dr. Mustafa Kerem, a faculty member of the Faculty of Sports Sciences.
High level of competition was experienced in both team and individual events in the tournaments organized across our university. In the men's basketball category, the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences came in first, the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture came in second, and the Faculty of Forestry came in third. In women's basketball, the Faculty of Health Sciences took the top spot, while the School of Civil Aviation came in second. In men's volleyball, the championship went to the Faculty of Education, the second place to the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and the third place to the Faculty of Health Sciences. The Faculty of Education won first place in the women’s volleyball; the School of Civil Aviation came in second, and the Faculty of Communication came in third. In the men's football tournament, the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture became the champion, while the Faculty of Education came in second and the Faculty of Tourism came in third. The awards in these categories were presented by the deans of our faculties.
Remarkable successes were also achieved in individual events. In bowling, Civil Aviation School students Azat Güneş and Ömer Güneş shared first place, while in men's table tennis, Medical Faculty students Ege Keskin and Muhammed Enes Gök took the first two spots. In women's table tennis, Yeliz Didin from the Faculty of Sports Sciences came in first. In darts, Ege Keskin from the Faculty of Medicine took first place among men, while Selma Demir from the School of Civil Aviation topped the women's category.
In the badminton category, Oğuzhan Şahin from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences won first place among men, while İclal Edikli from the Faculty of Sports Sciences secured first place among women. In the chess tournament, the students from the Faculty of Medicine, Toprak Duman and Alper Karaoğlu, achieved first place with their successful performances. All the successful athletes received their awards from the hands of our University administrators.
