The final event and award ceremony of the "Design Future" Design Competition, organized by the Patent Support Office of the Kastamonu University Technology Transfer Office (TTO), was held. At the event where students had the opportunity to showcase their design-focused work, projects from different disciplines were awarded based on jury evaluation.
The award ceremony was attended by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, KÜ TTO General Manager Prof. Dr. Alperen Kaymakcı, Director of the Wood Culture Application and Research Center Assist.Prof.Dr. Mehmet Karamanoğlu, as well as our faculty members and students.
A total of 53 applications were received across the categories within the competition, which aims to showcase students' original and innovative designs. There were 15 design applications in the industrial products category, 20 in the traditional and modern art category, 10 in the forest products category, and 8 in the landscape category. Following the jury's preliminary evaluation, 6 designs in each category were selected to present at the final event. Following the final presentations, the jury evaluated the honorable mentions and selected the top three designs in each category.
At the final event, the winners of the Industrial Products Category awards were announced first. The awards for the students who placed in this category were presented by Assist.Prof.Dr. Erman Zurnacı, a faculty member from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at our university.
In the Industrial Products Category, the honorable mention award went to Pakize Öztürk for her work "Ceramic Sauce Boat," while the third-place award was given to Melek Kuruoğlu for her design "Mobile Assistant Table." The second-place prize went to Pakize Öztürk for her work "Spring in a Cup," while the first-place prize was awarded to Elanur Toykar for her "Re-Leaf Solar Panel" design.
Following the program, awards were presented in the Traditional and Modern Art categories. The awards for the students who placed in this category were presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. İsmail Helvacı,at our university's Faculty of Education, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Köksal Bilirdönmez, faculty member at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. Emine Tülüoğlu won the honorable mention award with her work "Terracota Vase," while the third prize went to Ebru Özorak for her piece "Homage to Ahlatlıbel," and the second prize was awarded to Metinhan Kuruoğlu for his design "Deer-Shaped Decorative Object." In this category, the first-place award went to Serpil Pirizoğlu for her work titled "Modern Sage."
The Landscape Category awards were presented to the winners by Prof. Dr. Sevgi Öztürk, a faculty member from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at our university. In this category, the honorable mention award was given to Sultan Sezer for her work, "Neocore," while the third-place award was presented to Melisa Sözver for her design, "Multifunctional Urban Interaction Unit." The second-place prize went to Şerife Pınar Yılmaz for her work titled "Accordion Bench Design in the Shape of a Snake," while the first-place prize was awarded to Serpil Özdemir for her design "Friendship Camellia."
The Forest Products Category awards were presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karamanoğlu, Director of our University's Wood Culture Application and Research Center, and Prof. Dr. Alperen Kaymakcı, a faculty member of the Faculty of Forestry. In this category, the honorable mention award went to Dilek Kesimhasanoğlu for her work "Nefes Rafı," while the third prize was awarded to Alper Ortaakca for his design "Söz Duvarı." The second-place award went to Emirhan Gökaydın for his work titled "Modular Coffee Table," while the first-place award was won by Göksu Demirsoy for her design "Nefes-I Osmani."
Following the award ceremony, certificates of appreciation were presented to the academics who contributed to the preparation and organization of the competition by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal. Our Rector congratulated the students who participated in the competition and those who placed, as well as the academics who provided support throughout the process, stating that the designs presented offered contributions to the academic and applied studies carried out at our University.
