Kastamonu University will host the "IV. It held the "International Student Orientation Day" event. The event brought together our international students from different regions of the world.
The event, organized in collaboration with the General Directorate of External Relations, the International Student Coordination Office, and the International Student Community, was attended by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük, Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı, and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan, General Coordinator of External Relations Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Öztürk Akcaoğlu, unit coordinators, academic and administrative staff, and a large number of international students.
In the first session of the event, Lecturer Dr. Berkan Güngör from Kastamonu Technopark provided students with information on entrepreneurship. Stating that even a small idea can make a big difference, Güngör emphasized the importance of students with entrepreneurial ideas contacting him.
In his speech at the event, our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal stated that students are at the center of their internationalization goals and made the following assessments:
“The number of international students worldwide is increasing every year and is approaching seven million. The United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia attract a significant portion of international students. Türkiye has increased its international student population over the last fifteen years to over 300,000 by accepting students from a wide geographical area, including neighboring countries, Central Asia, Africa, and the Balkans. This development has placed Türkiye as the 7th country in the world hosting the most international students.
Our rector emphasized that the presence of international students provides opportunities not only in the field of education but also in economic, political, diplomatic, academic, and socio-cultural areas. He also stated that comprehensive services were offered to our students regarding academic advising, social adaptation, cultural events, and on-campus support.
Speaking at the program, Turkmen student Selbi Saparova shared the natural, historical, and sporting opportunities of Kastamonu, stating that our university contributes to the academic and social development of international students through its modern campus, library, sports facilities, and active student clubs. Saparova stated that the consulting and adaptation services offered make the students' campus experience efficient.
Following the speeches, the event continued with cultural performances. The dance performances by Indonesian students, the dombra performance by Kazakh student Sayanbek Ismamutov, and the dances by Turkmen students were highly praised by the participants. The program, which continued with song performances by Filipino students, concluded with a poetry reading by Syrian student Lin Muhammeddip.
After the event, students enjoyed refreshments in the foyer area and spoke with faculty representatives to learn more about topics that interested them. Our students expressed their satisfaction with the support provided by our university, stating that making friends from different cultures was a valuable experience for them. The program concluded with a photo shoot.
