The Senate of Kastamonu University got together under the chairmanship of our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, to evaluate the ongoing work and preparations for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The meeting was attended by Senate members, including Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan, Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı, and Acting Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Demirbaş, and representatives from faculties, colleges, and institutes.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, our Rector touched upon the achievements of our University in recent years, as well as the occupancy rates in all faculties and vocational schools. Stating that he was pleased with the interest shown, especially in the newly opened programs, our Rector emphasized that this interest is increasingly enhancing the desirability of Kastamonu University.
Stating that quality-focused studies will continue in the new term, our Rector said that steps are being taken to improve the quality of the departments and that new practices will be implemented to support both the students' academic success and the faculty members' scientific productivity.
Our rector also stated that the university is not just an institution where classes are taught but also a living space that supports students' social, cultural, and personal development.
During the rest of the meeting, preparations for the new academic year were discussed. The plans for the faculties and colleges, updates to the education and training processes, and student-focused projects were shared with the senate members.
At the Senate meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Adem Yılmaz, Director of the Career Development Application and Research Center, also gave a comprehensive presentation on the "Orientation Program" to be organized for new students. Associate Professor Yılmaz presented to the senate members the planned work on internship opportunities, career bulletins, and guidance services for students.
Professor Dr. Berat Ahi, Center of Excellence in Education Coordinator, provided information about the center's quality improvement efforts, support mechanisms for teaching staff, and student-centered projects.
Prof. Dr. Ahi also touched upon the analysis of the results from the student satisfaction survey focused on the Turkish Qualifications Framework, stating that the data obtained serves as a guide for strengthening the quality of education and training. He shared the plans to be implemented in the new academic year with the senate members, which align with our university's goals of excellence in education.
