Kastamonu University has launched another new project to contribute to Türkiye's National Technology Initiative and support national technological development.
The "Kastamonu University National Technology Workshop," prepared within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 4003-T National Technology Workshops Call and established on our campus with 30 million TL support, was opened on November 28, 2025, with a ceremony held in the KUZKA Central Building Meeting Hall, attended by Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır.

Halil Uluay and Serap Ekmekci, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, Oruç Baba İnan, our Vice Rectors, Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan, KUZKA Secretary General, Serkan Genç, representatives of public institutions, academics, and students.

The opening speech was given by KUZKA Secretary General Serkan Genç. Mr. Genç stated that the agency has made significant contributions to Kastamonu through the projects it has carried out since its establishment, adding that important steps have been taken, especially in rural development, support for disadvantaged groups, and bringing the region's unique products into the economy. The young person emphasized that the National Technology Workshop would give a new impetus to Kastamonu's vision for science and technology.

Following this, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, took the floor and stated that the workshop would enable the development of projects across a wide range of fields, from defense industry to artificial intelligence, from smart city applications to agricultural technologies, and from energy efficiency to digitalization.
In his speech, our Rector stated, "With the newly opened programs and the education we provide, we are strengthening our students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, involving them in projects in laboratories, workshops, and technoparks, and spreading this culture more and more every day. I would like to thank all the institutions and organizations that have supported our university to date, as well as our academics and students who have contributed with their projects, efforts, and ideas, "he concluded.

After our Rector, AK Party Kastamonu MP Serap Ekmekci, took the stage and stated that the investments made in line with the city's potential added great value to the region.
Ekmekci said, "We are continuing this struggle with unwavering determination, and we consider it our duty to make Kastamonu one of the unshakable fortresses of the economy. In the Century of Türkiye, we are moving forward with common sense and the spirit of cooperation.”

Following MP Ekmekci, Kastamonu Governor Meftun Dallı stated that development agencies have made significant contributions to the region in various areas, including production, agriculture, and women's and youth employment, as well as entrepreneurship. Stating that the investments to be made will positively shape the future of Kastamonu, he wished the projects well.
"We are experiencing a major transformation in the R&D ecosystem."
Speaking at the final ceremony, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır wished the 13 projects to be inaugurated in Kastamonu well. Stating that Türkiye is undergoing a major transformation in its R&D and technology ecosystem, Kacır announced that the number of technoparks has increased from 2 to 110, the number of companies operating in these fields has increased from 56 to 12,000, and the number of R&D human resources has increased from 29,000 to 311,000.
Minister Kacır stated that the National Technology Workshops were established for young people, adding that 50 workshops would be completed by the end of the year and that an additional 50 new workshops were planned to open next year.
Emphasizing that the opening of the workshop, which is one of the first National Technology Workshops to be established, is a source of separate happiness and pride for them, Kacır said, "We are pleased to follow the successes of Kastamonu University in both TÜBİTAK project calls and TEKNOFEST competitions, under the leadership of our esteemed Rector and valuable professors. We wholeheartedly believe that the youth of Kastamonu will be the standard-bearers of the National Technology Initiative. "
Stating that the TEKNOFEST generation is growing strongly, Kacır said that support will be increased, especially for women to play a more active role in technology production.
Following the speeches, the National Technology Workshop of Kastamonu University was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and the event concluded.
