AK Party Deputy Chairman and Human Rights Chairman Prof. Dr. Hasan Basri Yalçın evaluated current developments in the "World Order and Türkiye" discussion, and then visited our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal in his office.
AK Party Deputy Chairman and Human Rights Chairman Prof. Dr. Hasan Basri Yalçın participated in the program titled "World Order and Türkiye" held on October 20, 2025, at the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Cultural Center of Kastamonu University.
In the interview, which was followed by a large number of students, Prof. Dr. Yalçın discussed Türkiye's international position, security policies, and the changing global balances.
Prof. Dr. Yalçın stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's "Century of Turkiye" vision aims to strongly prepare the country for the changing conditions of the new century. Stating that recent developments have fundamentally changed both the world order and Türkiye's position, Yalçın emphasized that neither the world nor Türkiye is what it used to be.
Referring to the changes in the attitudes of the US and other global actors, Yalçın stated that Türkiye is experiencing intense instability in its surrounding region in an international environment where friendship and alliance relations are not guaranteed, and that developments in regions such as Karabakh, Iraq, Syria, Gaza, and Libya clearly demonstrate this situation.
Emphasizing that advancements in the defense industry have made Türkiye a regional power, Yalçın stated that Türkiye, which did not have access to basic defense technologies in the past, has become one of the world's leading countries in the production of UAVs and armed UAVs today. He stated that domestic defense technologies have made a significant difference in the fight against terrorism.
Highlighting the strategic importance of chip technologies and rare earth elements in global competition, Yalçın stated that if Türkiye could process and offer its 650 million-ton reserve to the world, the "Century of Türkiye" vision could become a more concrete reality.
Following the program, the AK Party delegation led by Prof. Dr. Hasan Basri Yalçın visited our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, in his office. The visit was attended by Kastamonu MP F. Serap Ekmekci, MKYK Members and Human Rights Vise Presidents Arzu Silin Günaydın and Mehmet Umur, AK Party Provincial President Ahmet Sevgilioğlu, Provincial Youth Branch President İbrahim Türkmenoğlu, and AK Party Youth Branch Human Rights President Pırıl Özçelik.
