The Advisory Board Meeting, organized to evaluate the current state of Kastamonu University and determine its future goals, was held on July 18, 2025, in the Senate Hall.
The meeting was attended by Kastamonu Governor Meftun Dallı, our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan, Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük, and Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı, as well as representatives from the business world, non-governmental organizations, and public institutions.
At the opening of the meeting, a promotional film was shown about the cooperation between Kastamonu University and the city. This was followed by a comprehensive presentation highlighting the company's achievements in education, healthcare, technology, R&D, and social responsibility.
In his opening speech, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, shared the projects our University has implemented in recent years and the achievements it has attained with the participants. Emphasizing that Kastamonu University has become a pioneering institution not only academically but also through its strong collaborations with the city, our Rector stated, "Your expectations from our university and your contributions to cooperation are very valuable to us." With the support of our Advisory Board members, we are determined to take our Kastamonu and our University even further," he said.
At the meeting, main topics such as education and teaching, research and development, quality and institutionalization, specialization, social responsibility, and city-university cooperation were thoroughly evaluated. Our Rector stated that, in line with the 2025-2029 Strategic Plan, our University is taking a leading role with projects that support regional development. Noting that Kastamonu University is among Turkey's leading universities in research and patent production, our Rector stated that they climb higher in international rankings such as THE, QS, and URAP every year and that our university has become a center for life through environmentally friendly campus initiatives and student-centered practices.
It was announced at the meeting that special education and R&D projects will be developed for Kastamonu's priority sectors such as industry, agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, and tourism. Noting that 42 companies are currently operating within the Technopark, our Rector stated, "We are ready to use our scientific knowledge for the development of our city. We are open to cooperation in every field, from R&D to entrepreneurship," he said.
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük provided information on the activities carried out by our university regarding the suggestions conveyed by stakeholders at the first Advisory Board Meeting held last year. Speaking at the meeting, Governor Meftun Dallı thanked our University for its contributions to Kastamonu and expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing collaborations.
Stating that studies in the field of artificial intelligence will make significant contributions to the region, Governor Dallı emphasized that infrastructure work for Ilgarini Cave will be initiated and that cooperation with our university is also important in the areas of environmental arrangement and water management.
In the meeting where the current state of our university and its future goals were evaluated, the participants shared their views, suggestions, and ideas regarding the future of our university and projects that could be undertaken together.
