Kastamonu University continues to showcase Türkiye’s's scientific potential to the world with its ever-increasing success graph each year. Our university has achieved another significant success abroad. This year, 10 academics from our university were included in the "World's Most Influential Scientists" list published by Stanford University and prepared by the Netherlands-based Elsevier publishing house.
The "World's Most Influential Scientists" list evaluates names from the top 2% of scientists worldwide, considering not only scientific metrics such as academic productivity, citation counts, and the h-index, but also the impact of research spanning many years.
The Success Graph Increases Annually
Two academics from our university appeared on the list in 2020, three in 2021, five in 2022, four in 2023, and eight in 2024. By 2025, this figure had risen to ten academics, reflecting the university's increased scientific output.
The list prepared by Stanford University includes Prof. Dr. Şeref Turhan from the Faculty of Science; Asst. Prof. Dr. Fatemeh Mollaamin, Prof. Dr. Hakan Şevik, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Gürdal, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Melike Kaplan Yalçın, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaan Işınkaralar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuzhan Yavuz Bayraktar from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemal Akyol; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamid Derviş from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; and Prof. Dr. Osman Sabri Kesbiç from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
In his assessment of the achievement, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, stated the following: "We are honored that 10 of our esteemed faculty members are included in this prestigious list published by Stanford University. This success is direct proof that Kastamonu University contributes to the scientific world not only nationally but also globally.
With the persistent efforts of our professors, our university is firmly establishing itself on the scientific stage with each passing year. On this occasion, I congratulate all of our participating academics and wish them continuing success," he stated.
