The "International Kastamonu Culture Days," organized by Kastamonu University in partnership with the Kastamonu Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, made an impression on attendees as a day of cross-cultural exchange intermingled with art, sports, and music.
Our university hosted the International Kastamonu Culture Days, which brought together cultural riches and world cuisines. The event held on May 29, 2025, in the area in front of the Central Cafeteria received great interest from both students and the people of Kastamonu.
The opening of the event was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, our Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism, M. Kerem Seven; district mayors; and the provincial protocol. The opening ceremony was attended by Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan, Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük, Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı, representatives from public institutions and organizations, academics, students, and many invited guests.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, our Rector and the accompanying protocol members toured the booths and received information about the products. At the stands, "Food and Beverage Presentations from Kastamonu and World Cuisine" were held. Participants had the opportunity to taste Kastamonu's geographically marked local delicacies along with dishes from different cultures prepared by international students. Students from various countries had the opportunity to promote their countries and cultures at the booths designated for them, wearing traditional clothing specific to their nations. The world cuisine booths received great acclaim from visitors.
As the day progressed, participants sweated it out in organized events such as darts, bocce, penalty shootouts, basketball shooting, tug-of-war, and sack races, while enjoying colorful and entertaining moments at Colorfest. Despite the rain, the enthusiasm continued both in the field and in the central cafeteria.
After the sports events, athletes competing in basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, darts, and chess in the student sports games organized in the 2024-2025 academic year received their trophies and medals in a ceremony. The athletes were presented with their awards by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, our Vice Rectors, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan, Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük, and Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı, as well as the deans of the faculties, heads of departments, academic staff, and those who contributed to the organization of the tournament.
Following the award ceremony, the art program of the event featured dance performances by our university's Raksan Folk Dance Community and international students, which received great applause from the audience. The dance section concluded with a performance by the children's group of the Raksan Folk Dance Community. The live music performances conducted by the Musicology Society provided art enthusiasts with moments filled with music.
One of the most anticipated moments of the day was the concert of the beloved artist Can Kavalcı. Kavalcı's stage performance created unforgettable moments for the guests attending the event. The music-filled night ended with a DJ performance.
