Our University, which aims to equip our young people and guarantee our future with the knowledge, skills, and values required by our age, was established by Law No. 5467, published in the Official Gazette on March 17, 2006. Located in Kastamonu, one of the prominent provinces of the Black Sea Region with its historical, natural, and cultural richness, our University aims to achieve a distinguished position among the universities in Turkey and the world with the strength it draws from our historical heritage and cultural roots.
Our University continues its education and training activities at associate, undergraduate, and graduate levels through 15 faculties, three institutes, two colleges, 13 vocational schools, 24 research and application centers, and 22 coordinatorships. Our University, which attracts attention with its institutional structure and strong infrastructure, continues its activities in the provincial center's Kuzeykent, Faculty of Medicine and Education-Culture campuses, and vocational schools in district centers.
Our campus infrastructure, which supports the academic development of our students, is enriched with versatile social and sports facilities. In this context, there are eight conference halls, five indoor sports halls, a multi-purpose sports complex, four fitness centers, a football field, an athletics track at UEFA standards, and various outdoor sports fields. In addition, central laboratories and student laboratories are among the essential physical facilities that support education and training processes. In addition to 3 facilities that support social life, places such as Cide Guest House offer social areas where our students, academic, and administrative staff can spend time comfortably. On the other hand, our University offers safe and comfortable accommodation opportunities for our students. Depending on the Credit and Dormitories Institution, seven dormitories, five near the Kuzeykent Campus, 1 in Abana, and 1 in Tosya districts, are in service. In addition, private dormitory alternatives address different needs in the city center, around the campus, and our districts.
Within the scope of the "Regional Development Oriented Mission Differentiation and Specialization Program" carried out by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), our University was announced as a specialized university in the Forestry and Nature Tourism field on December 12, 2018. Our University, which educates experts and well-equipped individuals in the field of forestry and nature tourism through scientific research and practices carried out by taking into account the natural and ecological characteristics of the region, makes original contributions at the national and international level with its studies in this field and is a higher education institution serving sustainable development goals.
Our University, which prioritizes scientific research, encourages academic development, and has aimed to contribute to society since its establishment, also carries out qualified studies in social, economic, cultural, artistic, and sports fields. In this respect, our University strengthens its identity as a "Developing Young University" daily and contributes dynamically to the Turkish higher education system. At the same time, our University, which wants to make its quality-oriented institutional structuring sustainable, has been entitled to receive institutional accreditation for 2 years with the decision taken on March 21, 2025, within the scope of the 2024 Institutional Accreditation Program carried out by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK), and has registered its quality assurance in higher education.
Our Central Research Laboratory, accredited by the Turkish Accreditation Agency, provides qualified contributions to the scientific studies carried out within our University. The Technology Transfer Office, which operates to commercialize scientific research and develop university-industry collaborations, mediates the transformation of knowledge and technology into economic value. Kastamonu Technopolis, another essential structure that supports these processes, offers an advanced R&D infrastructure for researchers, academics, and entrepreneurs and also makes strategic contributions to regional development by encouraging the development of technology-based projects.
Within the framework of its internationalization vision, our University increases its academic cooperation with higher education institutions in different geographies daily. Programs such as Farabi, Mevlâna, Orhun, and Erasmus+ are carried out at our University within domestic and international mobility scope. Our students are offered versatile opportunities such as education and training, exchange programs, and project collaborations in this context. Our University, which has increased the number of universities with which it has signed cooperation protocols every year and constantly updates and expands bilateral agreements, is moving forward with determination toward its goal of becoming a "World University."
