“Nail Tan Collection Selections Painting Exhibition” consisting of 66 works donated to our University Fine Arts and Design Faculty (GSTF) was opened at the Fine Arts Gallery of our University.
Before the exhibition, Nail Tan and his wife visited the Dean of Fine Arts and Design Faculty Prof. Erol Yıldır at his office.
During the visit, Nail Tan gave information about the collection he donated to our University and expressed his satisfaction that the collection is at good hands at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, where it should be.
Dean Prof. Dr. Erol Yıldır, on the other hand, thanked Nail Tan for donating the collection to our faculty and presented Nail Tan with a Certificate of Appreciation in regard to the meaning and importance of the day.
In the exhibition curated by Painting Department lecturers Assoc. Prof.Dr. Metin Uçar and Assistant Professor Teoman Çığşar, 66 works selected from the collection consisting of 96 pieces were presented to art lovers.
The opening of the “Nail Tan Collection Selections Painting Exhibition” was attended by the Vice Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Prof. Erol Yıldır, Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kaçar, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Abdulkadir Tuna, General Secretary V. Şevket Bahçacıoğlu, our university's academic and administrative staff and art lovers.
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Prof. Erol Yıldır stated that 99 percent of the paintings here are the works of great masters who lived in different countries and whose names are now included in art history books, and emphasized that the material and spiritual value of the exhibited works is quite high. Dean Yıldır stated that he will host the visitors for a month with an arrangement in which the exhibited works will be changed by making a selection from time to time, and that they will bring together the other works that they could not exhibit with art lovers in the coming periods.
Nail Tan, who stated that he participated in many exhibition openings and encouraged artists during his managerial duties in the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Culture, which started in the 1970s, said that culture should be evaluated as a whole with society. Stating that not looking at culture collectively would be a deficiency, Tan explained that as a result of the value he attaches to art, his collection is formed with the works he bought and given as gifts from various parts of the world.
Nail Tan Collection Selections Painting Exhibition will be open to the audience for one month at the Fine Arts Gallery in the Central Library of our University.
