Many volunteer works are carried out by our university students and Red Crescent volunteers to overcome the traumas of earthquake survivors in Kastamonu and to ensure that they spend time in a safe environment.
Earthquake survivors, whose houses were destroyed or damaged in the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, started to be hosted in the dormitories of the Ministry of Youth and Sports all over Turkey. In this context, our University students and Red Crescent volunteers create playgrounds for earthquake-affected children staying in dormitories and spend a lot of time with them.
One of these voluntary works is carried out by the students of our University and the volunteers of the Red Crescent. Playgrounds are created in dormitories for earthquake-affected children in Kastamonu and various activities are organized in these areas. Our students and volunteers try to help children have fun by playing games.
İlayda Yaren Balcı, a graduate of the Faculty of Education, Music Teaching Department of our University and Head of the Young Red Crescent Event and Organization Unit, stated that they created a playground for the victims of the disaster and that they play games with the children there, and stated that the people around them sent a lot of toys.
Balcı stated that they both gave these toys to children as gifts and that they played games together and emphasized that she and her team were here and ensured that the children had fun. She also stated that they received positive reactions from families that their children laughed for the first time after the earthquake.
Mehmet Demiray, a first year student at the Department of Business Administration at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of our university, stated that as Kastamonu University students, they stand by the earthquake victims and do their best to help them.
